Jan Oxenberg is an American filmmaker and director known for her contribution to feminist experimental film and documentary. Born in 1949 in New York, she studied at the Sarah Lawrence College and went on to make several award-winning films. Her most notable works include "Thanksgiving Prayer" (1991), which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Short Film, and "A Comedy in Six Unnatural Acts" (1975), which was distributed through Women Make Movies. Oxenberg's films often explore themes related to feminism, sexuality, and identity and feature a unique blend of humor and social critique. She has been an active member of the San Francisco Bay Area filmmaking community since the 1970s and has influenced and inspired many independent filmmakers through her work.
